Today we focus for the first time on News items related to RIPM. Next week we will return to Curios with an interesting and ongoing feature.<\/p>\n<p>Editor (Baltimore):<em>\u00a0Today, RIPM offers access to some 280 full-text searchable music periodicals (over 1,000,000+ full-text pages online) and some 875,000 annotated citations.\u00a0<\/em><em>Over the past three years, RIPM\u2019s Associate Editor Nicoletta Betta has presented a paper dealing with RIPM\u2019s recently completed and current indexing projects at the annual congress of the\u00a0International Association of Music Libraries, Archives, and Documentation Centres (IAML, held respectively in New York, 2015; Rome, 2016; and Riga, 2017).\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: 2em;\"><em>This series is in three parts, the first of which follows.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">*\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 *\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0*<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Nicoletta Betta (Torino): In 2015, twenty-three journals were indexed and will be available in the Retrospective Index, along with, in most cases, the full-text of the indexed titles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: 2em;\">In my presentation,\u00a0I will present basic publication information for all periodicals, the name of the RIPM editor or collaborator responsible for its indexing, and then select one or more journals for discussion, explaining why they were selected for treatment by RIPM. For clarity, the journals are grouped by country of publication.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: 2em;\">RIPM collaborators Peter S\u00fchring (Berlin) and Alexander Staub (Leipzig) have made significant progress in our ongoing indexing of the <em>Neue Zeitschrift f\u00fcr Musik<\/em>, focusing this time on the so-called \u201cBrendel years,\u201d from 1845 to 1868. After assuming ownership of the journal from Robert Schumann in 1844, Franz Brendel continued to publish content that set it off as an alternative to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ripm.org\/?page=JournalInfo&amp;ABB=ALZ\"><em>Allgemeine musikalische Zeitung<\/em><\/a>. By the late 1850s, Brendel began therein promoting the ideas of the New German School\u2014the <em>Neudeutsche Schule<\/em>\u2014a term he himself introduced. These journals also regularly followed the events of World War I, as well as the immigration status of European singers, musicians, and composers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: 2em;\">RIPM\u2019s collaborator Elvidio Surian and I have collectively indexed six Italian-language journals this year.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2086 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ripm.org\/cnc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2-IAML-2015-final-final.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"957\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cnc.ripm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2-IAML-2015-final-final.jpg 957w, https:\/\/www.cnc.ripm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2-IAML-2015-final-final-650x489.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.cnc.ripm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2-IAML-2015-final-final-300x226.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cnc.ripm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2-IAML-2015-final-final-306x230.jpg 306w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 957px) 100vw, 957px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: 2em;\"><em>Musica e Scena<\/em> was published by the influential Milan-based publishing house, Sonzogno.
